Our Privacy Vow
Your privacy is important. We strive to provide you with a safe and secure user experience. On occasion, there may be instances wherein information must be obtained in order to differentiate you from our thousands of other unique visitors. This helps us provide information and services that are most relevant to you. Our primary goal in collecting information from you is to provide you with a smooth and efficient experience while using our products and Website.
Types of Information Collected
In those instances where we obtain information from you through registration, cookies or otherwise, the information falls into two categories; personally identifiable information, and anonymous information. Personally identifiable information lets us know the specifics of who you are. We do not collect any personally identifiable information about you unless you voluntarily provide it to us. When you engage in certain activities with our programs or with our Website, we may ask you to provide us with certain information about yourself. If you do not provide that information, depending on the product or service you may not be able to engage in that activity. It is completely optional for you to engage or not engage in those products or activities. Anonymous information refers to information that does not by itself identify a specific individual. We gather certain information about you based upon where you visit on our site in several ways. This information may be compiled and analyzed on an individual or aggregated basis. The anonymous information we collect and analyze is used for the sole purpose of improving our service to you.
We collect information through registration and cookies.
Registration
When registering for certain products and services such as contests, promotions, online curriculum and games, we may ask that you provide us with some information. This information may include your name, passwords, email address, phone number, and postal address, some of which will be used for personalization and identification purposes only.
Cookies
Some of our Web pages use "cookies" so that we can better serve you with more tailored information. Cookies are pieces of information that websites transfer to your browser to keep on your computer for record-keeping purposes. These cookies allow us to "save" your passwords and settings so that you can avoid re-entering them each time you return for a visit. It should be understood that cookies do NOT collect any information, but rather store preferences. The information we collect and analyze is used for the sole purpose of improving our service to you. The cookies make your use of the site easier, make the site run more smoothly, and help us to maintain a secure site.
The use of cookies is now an industry standard, and will be found on most major websites. If you so desire, you can set your browser to either notify you when you have received a cookie, or refuse cookies altogether. It should be understood that many sites will not function properly if your browser is set to decline cookies.

Junior Achievement is in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). Junior Achievement makes reasonable efforts to avoid obtaining, and does not retain, any personal information from anyone under the age of 13 that would be in violation of the COPPA. The personally identifiable information we collect is in no way intended for those under the age of 13, unless we otherwise comply with COPPA. Where certain personal information is requested, it must be indicated that the user is 13 years of age or older in order for the information to be stored or transmitted, unless otherwise obtained and retained in accordance with COPPA.
We respond to subpoenas, warrants, or other court orders and judicial authorities regarding personally identifiable information and anonymous information concerning any member or visitor. We also reserve the right to release that information concerning a user who we believe is in violation of Junior Achievement's Terms of Use or other published guidelines and official rules, even without a subpoena, warrant, or other court order. We cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use our servers for illegal activities. We also reserve the right to report any activity to law enforcement that we in good faith believe to be unlawful.
Junior Achievement also cooperates with, and reserves the right to release any and all personally identifiable information to tax collection and tax law enforcement agencies in order to identify those users who may owe taxes on earnings from Junior Achievement prize winnings. (U.S. residents who win $600.00 or more combined cash and merchandise prizes in a calendar year must provide their Social Security number in order to receive "1099" forms from Junior Achievement.)
Junior Achievement uses SSL security on any form that requires credit card information. We will never ask for information that could be used in a phishing scheme without the SSL security behind the form.
Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personally identifiable information, you acknowledge that: (a) there are security and privacy limitations of the Internet which are beyond our control; (b) the security, integrity, and privacy of any and all information and data exchanged between you and us through our Website cannot be guaranteed; and (c) any such information and data may be viewed or tampered with in transit by a third party.
Policies of Third Parties Not Addressed
This privacy policy only addresses the use and disclosure of information we collect from you. To the extent that other sites are accessible through our site, they have their own privacy policies and data collection, use and disclosure practices. We are not responsible for the policies or practices of third parties. Additionally, in the event other companies place advertising on our site, they may collect information about you if you view or click on their advertising through the use of cookies. We cannot control this collection of information; rather you should contact these advertisers directly if you have any questions about the information they collect.
Third Party Fundraising Policy
Junior Achievement is always looking for funding resources to support our program efforts. Individuals, companies, and foundations are solicited in a wide range of ways; from special events, to personal appeals, to regular funding asks. The challenge is to not overwhelm our volunteers and companies with too many appeals.
Occasionally, someone will offer a promotion or other incentive from their business or organization to support Junior Achievement. We call these "third party funding opportunities". These are fund raising efforts in support of Junior Achievement that are not run by Junior Achievement.
A third party donation typically focuses on individuals purchasing a product or service from the company and a portion or percent of the purchase being donated to Junior Achievement. Or an event that is run by the company where sponsor proceeds are donated to non-profits such as Junior Achievement.
From Pampered Chef parties to Isaac nights, there are literally hundreds of programs in this category. Trying to manage and promote them would easily become a distraction from our core fundraising efforts. As a result, we have developed the following policy:
When an individual or business wants to create a promotion to support Junior Achievement, we welcome that opportunity as long as the promotion is their effort. Junior Achievement will not promote third party events through our social media or email campaigns.
We greatly appreciate donations that come from third party donation efforts.
Guidelines for 3rd Party Fundraisers
We have also established a few policies and guidelines to help outline our expectations about these events or efforts.
The use of Junior Achievement name, logo or mission may not be used in any way without written permission.
Event organizers are responsible for obtaining all permits, licenses and insurance certificates. Please note that raffles, drawings and other games of chance are governed by a variety of state municipal and federal laws. If you are holding a raffle, drawing or other game of chance at your event, please be aware that such an activity needs special permits and allow extra time for these to be obtained.
Junior Achievement assumes no legal or financial liability associated with third-party events.
Fundraisers must fully and truthfully state the portion of the proceeds which will be donated to Junior Achievement in all advertising, promotions and in all contact with donors, sponsors and participants. If less than 100% of the net proceeds will be donated, the "portion of proceeds" may be stated as a percentage of net proceeds.
Junior Achievement cannot be used as an event title but may be identified as the beneficiary of the event/promotion. For example an event may not be referred to as "Junior Achievement Bake Sale." Instead, it should be promoted as "XYZ Bake Sale to Benefit Junior Achievement."
Junior Achievement does not purchase advertising to promote third-party events.
Junior Achievement will not incur third-party expenses or provide any funds for third-party events or promotions.
Junior Achievement will not promote third party events through our social media or email campaigns.
Please contact Junior Achievement by emailing Allison Kierce, COO at akierce@jascpa.org to receive permission for your event or to get additional questions answered.
Once again, we greatly appreciate donations that come from third party donation efforts.
